MindNode 2 App Reviews

Keeps Getting Better And Better

Love this app. Great way to quickly get ideas out in an organized fashion. The addition of checkboxes makes creating to-do lists simple. There are a ton of export options too; so you can do everything you want in MindNode or you can use it as a quick starting place before exporting to another app. Super useful and easy to use.

It’s okay -lacks features and good DropBox sync

I tested several mindmap programs for Mac and iOS. Mindnode is the easiest to master quickly. It’s super easy to use and manipulate. I also own SimpleMind, but once I started to use it for serious work it felt clunky and was hard to move around in. Mindnode is easy to start and move nodes around and add pictures, but the features beyond that are very lacking. Dropbox is lacking as well, it seems like the developer gave up on improving DropBox functionality.

Excellent app for traditional mind mapping

As the title says, excellent app for mind mapping. Very good UI, intuitive, attractive, and functional. The only shortcoming I regularly run into is when information I’m mapping is better modled with a force-directed graph, or various other types of graphs. Mind node handles the typical mind mapping structure of ideas spreading out from a single topic, like branches. It does handle various other interconnections, but not as elequently, and this breaks the auto arrange feature. I would love if additional graph topologies were added in the future for more complex and interconnected ideas. Still, excellent software and does exactly what it’s targeted for. Five stars. Keep up the good work.

V.2.3.2 Review: update

V.2.3.2 Review: Fixed! That was fast. I love this app. I dont know how I lived without it If you are visually oriented, or think logically, you need this app. Previous review: ----------------------- "v.2.3.1 is broken v.2.2.5 gets 5 stars" Added features that broke the previous workflow. Now, with the caps lock on, the delete and tab keys no longer work and the return key does not function properly. I reverted to v.2.2.5 which is a perfect version (for me). Please understand that I love MindNode and have been using it since it was called MindNodePro v.1. Hopefully the author will restore functionality with the caps lock on. Otherwise I will stick with v.2.2.5.

An elegent, well-designed application

I used MindManager for years and I always felt like I was fighting the app. MindManager is a joy to use. If you are looking to create visually functional and attractive maps with minimum fuss, look no fruther.

Worth Every Penny

I have been surviving on free apps for quite some time. Then I finally bit the bullet and bough the MindNote suite, and I am so glad I did! I use it every day and it is such a big help to organize my thoughts and facts.

Pretty Darn Nice

I use MindNode for my website design pre-planning, and it’s everything I need in a beautiful and fast package. However, I do have a few minor quibbles: 1. It uses non-standard keyboard shortcuts for zoom. Zooming in is “⌘⇧.” instead of the standard “⌘+". 2. I wish the sidebar was context-aware, like Pages or Sketch. It would save a lot of time. 3. Could we please have multiple “personal” styles? However, I’m still going to give this app four out of five stars, as it’s a great app.

Great Mind Mapping Tool, does ALMOST everything you could want.

Mind Node is an excellent tool for brainstorming, making lists, etc. I have found that seeing the relationship between parent and child “thoughts” has really helped my brainstorming process. The interface is elegant and well-designed. IMO it’s not quite worth $30 ($19.99 seems like a better price point). The one complaint I would have would be that it has some diagramming limitations. There is no option (as far as I can tell) to use a vertical, rather than horizontal option for something similar to a flow chart or wireframe. It would also be nice to be able to change where the on each “node” they link. To be fair, a big part of what makes MindNode great for ‘mindmapping’ is the simplicity. It’s clean, with limited presentation options. It doesn’t have a massive design pallette, like full-featured graphing tools (Omnigraffle or Visio); just add nodes and type. However, I really do think it could stand to add a few more features that would make it useful for a few more functions without sacrificing the simplicity that makes it great at what it’s made for.

Best one For Mindmap

have a 1.11 I’m using now I really like it, this update is paid, but still ok.

Crystal clear and lightning fast

Been with Mindnode since version 1.0. Loving the lastest cut. 2.0 is lightning fast and so very well done. Thank you Markus and team!!

Beautiful

Beautifully designed app and very responsive.

Better, but I was hoping for more

I’ve been mindmapping for a long time with several different tools. Most of them are too child-simple and rather garish. MindJet - which I started using something like 10 years ago - had features, even then, that most of these tools can’t touch. But mindJet has pivoted and become more expensive, and less mac-friendly … so I have an older, unsupported version on my mac. So when I saw this announcement with features like linking to files, I got very excited. Finally, a modern simple tool with these critical features. Wll, Mindnode 2 has them, but they’re still pretty limited. You can only have one file linked to a node… you can’t have a URL linked… the annotations and visual editing are still very limited…I can’t find a way to show free floating text… i can’t find internode connections that are not part of the tree. All in all, its “somewhat” useful. More professional than a lot of the mind mapping tools, but still far from Top Shelf. I’ll probably keep using my old minjet version until they add more features and capabilities.

Wait until 2.1

Some significant usability issues in 2.0 — looks like this was rushed out the door before its time. New sibling nodes are added above (before) the current node. The outline in the new outline panel is not editable. Cannot resize images. Very limited stickers and no way to add one’s own icons to the library or a node. Formatting is garbled and sometimes lost when syncing to Mindnode 4 on iOS. Preview in Marked makes everything into a header — the result isn’t professional looking. For the money, there isn’t much of an upgrade here except for the new inspector panel (new location, not new features) and the outline view. Mindnode is pleasant to look at, but not much of a tool for actual work.

The best thing about it: it’s simple

As a designer and creative director it helps me do a quick mind dump without having to worry about details like layout, styling, etc. When i need more detail I jump into Omnigraffle.

One of the best apps ever made!

Simple, intuitive and extremelly useful, the new version just got better. If you are an artist, engineer, developer, anyone, GET THIS APP. I have been using this app for over two years now and It’s very useful in all aspects of my daily live. From organinzing my new thoughts, to orchestrate meetings with editors. It is just a must have. This version made a small next step into what did not need that much improvement. It’s worth upgrading. A little buggy and limited, but worth giving the step.

1.0 was perfect this one is even better!

Used MindNode PRO for a year and LOVE the app. Makes things that are hard to explain in normal words so much easier. Tried sveral map-mind apps but this is by far the easiest but still most powerful. Syncs perfect with iCloud Drive. New version has the outline that I have been missing. Highly Recommended. Support better than great. 4.0 for iOS just came out as a free upgrade/update as well so system is complete!

Beginner level mind mapping

I really want to love this program. It is gorgous. The interface is wonderful! Adding and adjusting and shaping and so forth… beautiful. I feel good using this. Saying that… it exports terribly. The links export in some formats (RTF) but not others (Markdown). The export to markdown is, frankly, seriously lacking. For a more serious, useable product, where I can export to Markdown (using Ulysses as my text editor) I use iThoughts. iThoughts is not as ‘fun’ to use, with not as much polish in design, but it is a more advanced mindmap program. If all youa re looking for is soemthing to make mind maps… this is all you need. It is gorgous. It works. It is easy. If you need more robust abilities, this is not the mind map to use.

More Accessibility

Nothing too, crazy. I love the app. I just wish that when I have my notes attached to a Node on my Mac, that I was still able to see the notes on my iPad. Seems simple. Allow me to see what I’ve created in its entirety.

Delightful, yet simple

An attractive, yet simple mind mapping tool. If I just want to sketch out some thoughts using a mind map this is a good tool. If that mind map grows into something more complex or if I need to be able to export to MS Office then I will move it to iThoughts which is a more robust tool. But I like the simple, clean lines of Mind Node for basic brainstorming. So I have both. Most of my mind mapping work is in fact simple and Mind Node is sufficient.

Great update

When an app is good, I have no problem supporting a developer by buying a new version every few years. This is one such app. So many people have been conditioned with the 99 cent app race to the bottom, that they are outraged when a developer releases a new, improved version. It’s a shame, really. If you don’t want to buy the new version, don’t.
